Quote of the Day

"It is my belief, Watson, founded upon my experience, that the lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of sin than the smiling and beautiful countryside."

-From the short story The Adventure of the Copper Beeches by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Next on the bookshelf: a novel about time-traveling to the bubonic plague. Good times.

  1. I love time travel books. Have you read Connie Willis’ “To Say Nothing of the Dog”? It’s one of my all time favourites, though it was a miserable failure at my book club. Not for every taste, I guess.

What book are you reading about time-travel? Curious.

    1. It’s actually a Connie Willis novel: the Doomsday Book. I heard about her books a while back as she’s in the middle of a trilogy about time travelers studying the Blitz in London so it sounded like something I’d like. I thought I’d start with the first novel in that series. I’ve read a lot of good things about “To Say Nothing of the Dog” as well.
