Today is the longest day of the year, which probably explains why I was wide awake, briefly, at 04:30am. However, if you’re Australian, it’s the shortest day of the year.
You see, Australia likes to do everything differently from the rest of the world. This is their winter, Christmas is next week, and they drive in the middle of the road, rather than on the side. Spoons are also forks. And hamburgers eat people. And children are raised by kangaroos until their third year. And Kath and Kim are Co-Prime Ministers, or, as they say in Australian, “Proyme Meenistahs.”
