Buck 65

Point is I’m easy goin, no need to hide for
But some folks really need to get outside more
You can’t chop wood with an axe made of words
Its attack of the nerds 2001

I like Buck 65. He’s one of those hip-hop artists who incorporates lots of diverse, obscure, non-hip-hop influences in his music. The Mirror’s got a decent, if a bit fawning, interview with him this week. It covers everything from David Lynch to Tom Waits’ version of a hobo song called “Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet” (which I once heard on CBC’s Nightlines while driving home from Fredericton in the middle of the night all while dodging moose). He’s at Cafe Campus next Thursday.
