See that tiny collection of houses, churches, and pubs? That’s K’s old home town and where we spent most of our vacation. Langholm is known as “The Muckle Toon” or “The Big Town” and played a role in the frequent border hostilities between England and Scotland. Much of the area we visited was once known as The Debatable Lands and was also the turf of the Border Reivers, from whom K. can claim some descent on her dad’s side. Today, however, these lands are home to mostly sheep.
